Like everyone else in UK, I can’t wait for lockdown to end and my second jab in May. But there have been some advantages to this time at home.
At first I was worried that I would run out of reference photos for my work and I have been forced to revisit some older subjects. However there isn’t much point in producing copies of earlier paintings so I have taken some different approaches to recent work.
This view of Rhossili Bay on the Gower Peninsular is one I have painted in watercolour many times quite realistically. This version is quite differen, using a palette knife with this acrylic paint on canvas. I let loose with colour too, using a deep purple to create a stormy sky, nothing like the photo but how I remember it from one of our day trips there.
All being well we are going back soon. This year hopefully.
