I have been determined to use this time in lockdown wisely, trying art subjects outside my usual comfort zones of landscapes and seascape. I also want to develop my drawing skills and the only way to do this is to draw - every day.
Boats are a great subject to practice with requiring a steady hand and an eye for detail so I started a series of sketches of vintage sailing vessels and Tall Ships this week.
Here are the first few and there’s already a huge difference in quality between the first and the most recent.
That’s quite encouraging as I would love to get some magazine commissions for illustration work.
